»The Epitome of Girl*hood - Zines as places for the negotiation of gender«
is an intersectional feminist project that centers and
values the cultural expressions of FLINTA* individuals.
At its core is a repeatable zine workshop series,
where participants create personal zines exploring
their experiences of growing up through the lens of girl*hood.

Within the framework of this project Girl*hood is understood as a sociocultural construct
shaped by ethnicity, gender, sexuality, and class.
The addition of the asterisk (*) highlights the inclusion of diverse FLINTA* identities
and multiple ways of experiencing youth.

Participants learn the basics of zine-making and risograph printing.
Each person creates their own 8-page zine.
All works are collected in a purpose-built mobile zine library,
where they are archived and made publicly accessible. As contemporary artifacts,
these zines challenge dominant narratives and make voices visible that are too often dismissed as “trivial.”

»The Epitome of Girl*hood« creates space for marginalized perspectives to be seen, heard,
and recognized as part of cultural production—while opening new ground for the negotiation of gender.
